Callao Car Center is owned and operated by John and Debbie Newsome. John and Debbie are both lifelong residents of Callao. They started school together, graduated together, and were married in 1988. They are parents to a son named Taylor, who is the light of their lives.
The family has always felt it important to give back to the community. John is a life member of Callao Volunteer Fire Department located across from the dealership. He is also a licensed auctioneer and enjoys doing charity auctions around the area for various organizations.
John was proud to have his father, John L. Newsome, aka "Big John" or "Pop", working alongside him right from the beginning. "Big John" was also a life member of Callao Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the ACCA Shrine, and past president of the Northern Neck Shrine Club. John and "Big John" both gained a tremendous reputation for fair prices and honest deals. "Big John" passed away on December 25, 2012. Folks would come from near and far to sit and talk with him. He was well respected in his community and people enjoyed his dry wit and charm.
Debbie Newsome is a full time Realtor with Van Land Realty (www.vanlandrealty.com) where she works with her father, Robert VanLandingham. Van Land Realty has been in business since 1971. She is also a Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser and the owner of Newsome Appraisal Service. Debbie also enjoys being an Independent Beachbody Coach (www.debbienewsomewellness.com) and helping others achieve their fitness and health goals. She is active in the community as well and is a member of several organizations including the Northumberland Special Education Advisory Committee. When not at work, Debbie enjoys paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing and spending time with her family.
